On February 5, 2020 we celebrate the 34th Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD). This national celebration, powered by our friends at the Women’s Sports Foundation, recognizes the importance of equal opportunity for all girls and women in sports.
MLK Day of Service in Chicago, Miami, New Orleans and Seattle
On Monday, January 20th, 2020, Up2Us Sports staff and coaches in Chicago, Miami, New Orleans and Seattle participated in the Corporation for National and Community Service’s (CNCS) MLK Day of Service. In 1994, Congress designated the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday as a national day of service and, fittingly, charged CNCS with leading this effort.

While the initial groundwork for the organization began in 2008 when Founder & CEO Paul Caccamo received funding to run the first sports-based youth development conferences in major U.S. cities - which would later become the regional hubs for Up2Us Sports - our effective date of nonprofit exemption granted by the Internal Revenue Service was January 12, 2010.

Up2Us Sports Receives $2.6 Million in National and State AmeriCorps Funding
Through Up2Us Sports’ national coaching program, 300 AmeriCorps members will be trained to coach and mentor low-income youth to make better decisions, stay healthy, and reach their potential, through the power of sports. The $2.6 million in grants from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) will support AmeriCorps members nationally with added support from CaliforniaVolunteers, Serve Illinois, Volunteer Louisiana, PennServe and Serve Washington.
