For the third consecutive year, Up2Us Sports has received funding from Serve Washington, Washington’s state service commission. For the 2021-2022 year, the grant will support 18 Up2Us Sports coaches around the state of Washington.

Since before the inception of Up2Us Sports, AmeriCorps has been by our side, providing grants to support service members to serve as youth sports coaches nationally. They awarded our Founder and CEO, Paul Caccamo, a grant in 2009 which helped officially launch the organization as the first national service program for coaches in America.
MLK Day of Service in Chicago, Miami, New Orleans and Seattle
On Monday, January 20th, 2020, Up2Us Sports staff and coaches in Chicago, Miami, New Orleans and Seattle participated in the Corporation for National and Community Service’s (CNCS) MLK Day of Service. In 1994, Congress designated the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday as a national day of service and, fittingly, charged CNCS with leading this effort.
Up2Us Sports Receives $2.6 Million in National and State AmeriCorps Funding
Through Up2Us Sports’ national coaching program, 300 AmeriCorps members will be trained to coach and mentor low-income youth to make better decisions, stay healthy, and reach their potential, through the power of sports. The $2.6 million in grants from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) will support AmeriCorps members nationally with added support from CaliforniaVolunteers, Serve Illinois, Volunteer Louisiana, PennServe and Serve Washington.
