In the past year we have all dealt with overwhelming change, in an ever changing world. However, we have a brave and resilient group of people who have chosen to serve their country. Our AmeriCorps members have been a light in the darkness, paving a path of hope. Each of our members has chosen to serve for different reasons, however their overarching goal has been to give back and put their communities first. Our country is in need of healing, and there are many obstacles to overcome. Despite all of the obstacles happening around them, our AmeriCorps coaches and VISTAs are doing tremendous work, and helping to heal one person at a time.
Up2Us Sports is proud to support a group of these service members through both of our AmeriCorps Programs: Up2Us Coach and Up2Us VISTA. We have had a truly impactful working relationship with AmeriCorps since our start in 2010. Our coaches have been able to adapt to the world around them and find new ways to stay connected as well as providing a caring and inclusive environment to the youth they serve. Our VISTA members have proven time and again that they have been the catalyst for positive change, and have continued to support the functioning of our sports-based youth development organizations.
AmeriCorps will lead the celebration of AmeriCorps Week 2024 during the agency’s 30th anniversary. The theme, AmeriCorps is not a moment, it’s a movement, demonstrates the hundreds of thousands of members and volunteers, and the millions of alumni, who have committed to get things done for America for the past three decades.
During the week of March 10-16, we as a community are delighted to celebrate the profound impact, adaptability and conviction of our AmeriCorps members. We want to thank each and every one of our members for volunteering in the service of others. Together, we are strong, #AmeriCorpsStrong.
Every day this week, we will highlight a theme, celebrating the work of our current and former Up2Us Sports AmeriCorps VISTA’s, coaches, and staff. Follow along with us this week, and all year long. After all, AmeriCorps Is Not a Moment, It’s a Movement.
